Funny Things living with Tyler

Gran told me this story that occurred while I was working in Utah...She walked into the family room and heard Tyler yelling at "Patra" (Cleopatra)
"Patra Listen to me""Patra No, no bone no listen to me"
Then Ty proceeded to put Cleo's bone up on the shelf- apparently Cleo was not listening to Tyler so he put her bone up on the shelf until she listened to him... guess he's listening to me a little more than I thought...

On Sunday we were sitting in the family room waiting to have family prayer and T went around handing everyone their scriptures then proceeded to tell us it was "scripture study" and opened all our scriptures and stuck our noses into the scriptures and told it "came to pass"

Surprise!

We had a surprise birthday party for Kaitlin and Kevin friday night over at a friend's house. (THANKS ERIN!!!) It was a fun pool party and the kids were totally surprised. Mom Butler asked Brian and I to make the cake- I took the easy way out and did cupcakes. I hate to pat myself on the back, and our little camera didn't quite do them justice but I do have to say they turned out cute!

My Garden

So Brian and I were garden gong-ho all excited, we planted zuchinni, squash, tomatoes, romaine lettuce, leafy lettuce, carrots, green beans, peas, watermelon, strawberries, rosemary, cilantro, onions and I think that was about it. Everything was looking good before we left in June. It then got HOT- over 100 degrees the past 3 weeks and it seems like most things are now dead... I'm so sad. We still have tomatoes (which for me were the most important) and squash & zucchini, but it seems that everything else died maybe next year

First day of school

So Brian was not happy that I insisted on taking a first day of school picture but I thought it necessary. As a first week update- he is liking it, maybe even loving it- well let's me be honest he is loving being busy and learning, not so sure about loving the homework aspect. Lots of reading, recipe cards, and knife skills practicing. AND 6 am classes but other than that things are looking up! We do miss our Daddy during the day, we were spoiled.

Culinary School here we come

I like to say we but in all actuality it's Brian. After a year or so of trying to find employment, me handing him the phone to talk to the admissions office, and a 3 hour entrance interview Brian decided to apply to the Art Institute and has been accepted. He/ we are super excited. I think that he will be great. It will take 3 years and will graduate with a BS in Business Management with a culinary emphasis. We had so much fun with Alex's wedding that I think this is be a great experience and will bring great blessings into our lives. If you have a party or need something catered keep us in mind... wink wink

JUMP JUMP JUMP

Ty had lots of fun jumping on the trampoline that the boys unpacked up at Mom and Dad Smith's house.... all we heard "watch me jump mommy" or "Ty go jump" or "let's go Daddy Ty want to jump"
Even Uncle Dave got suckered in by T....

Moab- 4 days in God's creations

We went down to Moab/ Arches/ Canyon Lands for 4 days with our friends Scott and Ashley. Despite the rain, heat, and mosquitos we had a blast. We had fun 4-wheeling in Canyon lands, hiking to see different arches, seeing dino prints, petroglyphs, eating, and of course playing games... who knew I knew so little about things in trivial pursuit. Thanks Uncle Scottie and Aunt Ash for all the fun.... Peace out dude
